PARIS

December 9, 2017 Paris, France

The International travels have begun… with PARIS!

Ahhh… the city of AMOUR.

As coffee lovers, we were both excited to explore the coffee and thrills of Paris. We quickly realized that our plan to write reviews of all the coffee houses we visited in Paris was impossible. The entire city was a virtual coffee house. We never had to wonder where to go get coffee. It was constantly in front of us. We found coffee behind every other door we entered. It’s important to note that Parisian’s consider what we know as “coffee” to be “watered-down crap.” The Parisian version of coffee is what Americans call “espresso,” which we had no qualms with. We were thrilled! SO MUCH ESPRESSO!   It was absolutely impossible to try it all.  Overall, their espresso was AMAZING and consistent.

We spent out first day in Paris walking around Montmartre, where we attended mass at the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, danced along with the street band Les Presteej, viewed artists at the Place du Tetre, visited Le Musée, and discovered an amazing coffee drink at Le Consulat.

The French sure know how to make a perfect Irish Coffee…Oh the layers are beautiful!

Just take a look at the this bountiful beverage beauty! It was so good that we had this delight more than once on our trip and are going to learn how to make this for ourselves at home – I’ve tasked Bryan with that job 😉

We discovered that there was something in the coffee – or the water…or the air. Writers were certainly not kidding when they have described Paris as the “City of Love.” Nestled in the not-so-secret corner of Le Consulat, we saw this seasoned couple (below) succumbing to the romantic feel of the city.

We had our own romantic moments as well that I throughly enjoyed every second of. Paris is most definitely a city to enjoy oneself in.  To take everything in –  savor, taste, see, touch, listen, indulge.

Speaking of indulging, we took the time to try out what we were told was the best hot chocolate in the world. You must visit Angelina. It was definitely worth the long wait outside in the cold. The hot chocolate is the thickest you will ever drink.

We tried soufflé that a friend described as “you’ll never find anything else like this in the world!”  Her description didn’t lead us wrong! Make sure to visit Le Soufflé if you ever get a chance.

Basically, Paris = All you can have espresso. We’ve been told the coffee in Italy is even more life-changing. We can’t wait.
